MAGAZINE! MAGAZINES!

Mon Sep 8, 2008, 1:44 AM
Just a quick update here!

I haven't really been on dA much because I've been so busy with school.

Last semester I was the Editor-In-Chief of Access Magazine at SJSU (my fourth EIC position!). It was a ton of work, a blast, and the most rewarding thing I've ever done (which continues to be the case). We published the largest magazine in SJSU history (52 pages) and did it in the shortest amount of time (distributed the same semester that we produced it). In fact, while the magazine normally goes out at the beginning of the semester and is picked up by the end of the time the next issue comes out, my issue of ACCESS was gone in TWO WEEKS!!!!

Not only did the students love it, but I've been hired as an Art Director for a start-up magazine called Social Entrepreneur which is going to be REALLY big!. It's very exciting. I'm working on that this semester and I'm designing the school newspaper.

And lastly, I've got my foot out the door and am slowly moving to San Jose. I got a room 4 blocks from campus so I can walk home if I get out of the Daily at 2 a.m. Next semester, when the magazine pays better, I'll get an apartment and will be fully moved out. I"m just commuting this week...

Anyways, life is great. I turned 21 on August 15th and haven't stopped partying since!

Hey. Sorry for the late responce. If you want to go ahead and E-Mail me @ CMeier8702@comcast.net I respond to that faster. Well neways, I will try to use the 1/125th shutter speed and see what happens. Should I let my camera flash, flash? It just seems like when the camera flashes it looks bad. :( Yes, when my camera flashes my strobes flash but It looks HORRIBLE with the camera flash. Unless I'm doing something way wrong. grr. Any help would be great.

Hey! I was hoping that maybe someday soon you could come by and show me how to REALLY get the whole lighting situation down. I dont know what's going on but, sometimes the lighting is just not right. :( & I mess up a lot on how to judge like shutter speed. My main problem is that I dont use the flash on my camera because they the pictures turn out horrible so I hold still and take the picture and then if the dog moves, then its all blurry. :( Help me!
:iconmorngeboy:
just set the shutter speed for 1/125th. Remember, it doesn't change the exposure.

The strobes are firing right? What kind of blurry is it? Is it motion blur because the shutter is too long, or is it not focused right? If you speed up the shutter speed to 1/125th of a second and the picture gets darker then you aren't doing something right.

If it's inconsistently blurry, then maybe you're shooting too fast. The strobes have to charge (takes a couple of seconds) between each shot. They'll beep (if you have the switch on) when they're ready to shoot again.

I'm kind of photography dormant right now because I'm so busy so I don't know if I'll have time to come over and help you out.
